Beyond Banking

Verified by Visa®

What is Verified by Visa®?

Verified by Visa® is a service designed to protect your DuPage Credit Union Visa Credit and Debit Cards from Internet fraud. Verified by Visa takes Internet security to a new level by authenticating account ownership online, in real time, during internet transactions. To use Verified by Visa, you, the Visa cardholder, need to enroll in the program and submit a password. Each time you make a purchase at a participating online store, a Verified by Visa pop-up box will automatically appear, prompting you to enter your password. DuPage Credit Union's Visa processor will authenticate you as the cardholder.

^TOP

How do I enroll in Verified by Visa®?

You can register for the service through the Verified by Visa® site. You will be requested to enter your Visa Credit or Debit Card account number. Then you will be instructed to enter the following information to authenticate your account ownership:

  • Name
  • Social Security Number
  • Home Phone
  • Postal Code
  • CVV2 or Verification Code (a 3-digit number printed on the signature strip on the back of your card)
When you complete the authentication process successfully, you will then establish a password and hints to help you remember the password.

^TOP

After I register, how long does it take for Verified by Visa® to become active on my card?

The added protection of Verified by Visa® is available immediately after you complete the online registration process. You may begin to shop at participating stores.

^TOP

During a purchase transaction, how many attempts do I get to enter my password?

^TOP

Will the security information adequately protect me from unauthorized use if my wallet and identification are stolen?

Enrollment provides significantly improved security for Internet transactions and greatly reduces the risk of unauthorized card use. However, it is not possible to eliminate the risk completely. If your purse or wallet is stolen, DuPage Credit Union must block the account by reporting it lost or stolen. You can call 800.325.3678 to report your card lost or stolen, and will need to re-enroll in Verified by VisaA® after receiving your new/replacement card; your password does not transfer to your new account.
