DuPage Credit Union Sponsors Local School Institute Days

As educators across DuPage County gathered to prepare for a new school year, DuPage Credit Union was proud to support 13 school institute days throughout the region. These events gave us a meaningful opportunity to connect with local teachers and staff while showing our appreciation for the important role they play in the lives of students and families.

To help schools offset event costs, George Caraballo, Associate Director of Branches and Community Engagement, presented each participating school with a $250 donation. Educators also received swag bags filled with notebooks, seed bookmarks, and other items.

Throughout the events, Caraballo shared how DuPage Credit Union supports the communities we serve, highlighted the benefits of membership, and expressed our gratitude for the dedication educators bring to their work every day. By investing in these back-to-school gatherings, we were honored to celebrate and support the people who help shape the future of our community.

70 Years of Giving Back

Since its founding by four educators at Wheaton North High School 70 years ago, DuPage Credit Union has remained committed to supporting educators and the schools and communities they serve. The school institute sponsorship is just one example of DuPage Credit Union’s ongoing commitment to supporting local educators and schools.

Earlier this month, the DuPage Regional Office of Education purchased 900 backpacks and school supplies with funds raised from the Credit Union’s annual shred and electronic recycling event. Since the inception of the Credit Union’s We’ve Got Your Back fundraiser in 2014, we have raised more than $129,000 for local students in need.

Throughout the year, the Credit Union works hand-in-hand with the DuPage ROE to support various programs and initiatives, including the regional spelling bee and the Center for Student Success. The Credit Union also donated $90,000 to high-risk, low-income families throughout DuPage County through the Parents as Teachers program.

Additionally, DuPage Credit Union actively participates in Junior Achievement and financial literacy programs at local schools. Earlier this spring, Caraballo helped raise over $18,000 during the DuPage Division’s Junior Achievement Night on the Town event. His determination and philanthropy helped secure top honors as “JA Town mayor” for the evening. Through Junior Achievement and local financial literacy programs, the Credit Union teaches children of all ages the importance of budgeting, wants versus needs, and basic economics.
