Summer is a great time to give back through charitable work and by participating in fundraising events and drives. Check out 4 ways to give back to the community that are near and dear to our hearts:

Give Back - An African American young woman is handing out backpacks at a back to school fair to students in need- she has a big smile on her face.

#1 Help Local Students in Need

With a donation of just $10, you can help a DuPage County student in need though our We’ve Got Your Back backpack fundraiser. 100% of funds raised are used to purchase backpacks and school supplies which are handed out during the DuPage County Back to School Fair.

Give Back - hundreds of colorful backpacks are neatly stacked before the back to school fair.

#2 Give Back by Feeding the Hungry

Help give back by volunteering at a local food pantry, like the Northern Illinois Food Bank which feeds over 71,000 people each week in 13 northern Illinois counties, including those within our own communities. The food bank located in Geneva offers volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups and families.

Want to help but don’t have a lot of extra time? No worries! Donate non-perishable food items, toiletries, infant formula and diapers to local churches, food pantries, and organizations like Hesed House.

Give Back - DuPage Credit Union employees helping at the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

#3 Give Hope

Consider walking in a local Relay for Life event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. Whether you walk to remember a loved one, honor someone who is battling the disease or  celebrate survivors, the relay provides hope for a cure. Monies raised are used to fund cancer research, patient support services, prevention and education information, and so much more.

Give Back- DuPage Credit Union Team Members participating in a Relay for Life.

#4 Help Homeless Pets

Share a little love with homeless pets when you help give an adoptable pet a second chance at a forever home. Shelters like Anderson Animal Shelter and the Naperville Humane Society also provide opportunities to give back by volunteering, sponsoring aging pets and participating in fun fundraisers.

Our Team supports these organizations by spending lunch breaks crafting toys for pets waiting on their forever homes. If you have old tees, towels, tennis balls or crafting materials, please consider donating them at a Branch Office. Items are used to create these engaging toys. We are also collecting gently-used pet supplies, as well as pet food and treats to assist both shelters.

Give Back- An assortment of hand-made and donated pet toys and supplies.
