Not only is it important to have the latest version to ensure you have the newest features, but for security reasons as well. To avoid software attacks, viruses, and simply browse the internet safely, follow the steps below to update your browser.

First, you will want to check which version you currently have installed. After successfully checking and updating your browser, if necessary, you will want to delete your cookies – and no, not the chocolate chip kind! By deleting your cookies on a regular basis, it will ensure no harmful files have infected your cookies and make sure your computer runs at an optimal speed.

Internet Explorer

How to check your latest version:

  1. Open the Internet Explorer browser.
  2. Click on Tools in the upper right-hand corner.
  3. Click on About Internet Explorer.
  4. A screen will appear that will tell you which version you currently have installed.
  5. To turn on automatic updates for upgrading your browser, click here.

How to successfully delete your cookies:

  1. Click on Tools.
  2. Click on Internet Options.
  3. Click the General Tab.
  4. Under Browsing History, click the Delete button.
  5. Once the Delete Browsing History popup window appears, check the box for Cookies. Be sure all other boxes are unchecked and click Delete.

Chrome

  1. Click on Menu.
  2. Click on History.
  3. Click on Clear Browsing Data.
  4. A page will appear with the title Clear Browsing Data.
  5. Choose the most appropriate date range from Obliterate the following items from the drop-down.
  6. Make sure Delete Cookies , Other Site , and Plug-In Data is checked and un-check all others.
  7. Click Clear Browsing Data.

Firefox

  4. A page will appear with the title Clear Recent History.

  6. Click the arrow button next to details and a list will appear.
  7. Make sure the Cookies box is checked and un-check all others.
  8. Click Clear Now.

Safari

How to check your latest version:

  1. Open the Safari browser.
  2. Click on Safari in the upper left hand corner.
  3. Click on About Safari.
  4. A screen will appear that tells you what version you currently have installed.

How to successfully delete your cookies:

  1. From the menu bar, click Safari Menu.
  2. Click Preferences.
  3. Click the Privacy Tab.
  4. In the Block Cookies section, choose Never.
