On October 13, 2025, credit unions across the nation joined forces to celebrate CU Kind Day. On this annual day of giving, credit unions and their employees participate in community-focused acts of kindness, embodying the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”
This year, DuPage Credit Union team members organized a book drive to benefit SCARCE (School & Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education), a local non-profit organization that runs a reuse center, SCARCE-LY Used Books & Records. Upon meeting with SCARCE founder Kay McKeen, we knew that working together could amplify our shared missions of helping local students, teachers, and the community.
We’re proud of our team for donating 446 books to SCARCE. These books will be offered for sale at their reuse center, and if they cannot be re-sold, they will be recycled through a specialty recycler.
